Firstly I just wana say hello to everyone as this is my first post on tpf, so I have a little plastering job literally no more then about 4 metres internally, now the wall has got patches of damp were it had come through, so I was going to take out the damp patches, and fill the patches with sand and cement with waterproofer in then skim, but the client said well why can't u just put waterproofer into the actual mix? Which got me thinking but cannot find anything online about it, so was wondering if u guys had any ideas on that, thanks.

Hi

My advice would be to take out the damp areas and any existing that has blown ( You will know the areas by tapping on them, if it sounds hollow then it has blown ).

Regarding the mix I would add waterproof to the sand and cement, not the skim. I would advise though that you make sure the wall is completely dry for commencing work and also the cause of the damp is sorted out. Otherwise if not the problem will arise again.

Hope this helps, good luck.
