Adult apprenticeship

Hi all.
I'm Rob from Glasgow, and I'm due to complete my city & guilds
level 2 in plastering in June 2016, its a year long course and would like to gain an adult apprenticeship to build on skills gained in college, and was wondering if anyone knows of companies in Glasgow that take on adult apprentice's

I don't know if it's my age, or the way my mind works, but whenever I see the phrase "adult apprentice" I imagine someone learning the ropes in porn films. :musculoso:
 
Nooooooo if you read a few threads your understand its not the game to be in,good luck finding a start and challenge I give you five years before you start moaning lol

Nah, that was when City & Guilds did the qualifications. Now that it's a NVQ they wanted a more recognisable training description.

Makes me feel old cos mine was city&guilds nvq are freely handed out these days I'm glad I have got mine but I'm glad I learnt the hard way as well the pleasure I took from the spreads shouting at me throwing stuff at me calling me useless and sticking me in cupboards stood me good in end even if today's generation would call it bullying I had no choice me old man wanted his rent and I wanted beer
 
Same as pagey..cnt say s**t to young end these days I had a lad once cry at me after 2 days with me I only told him to get my a few soundblock boards and he started crying saying there were 2 heavy I kid u not,and I'm not exaggerating wen I say crying he was actually crying his eyes out I cudnt believe it

I had one telling me he tough goes gym and he can kill it he couldn't get a full shovel of sand in mixer and I filled barrow up for him to bring round and he couldn't lift it I went think you better put more time in the gym cos you clearly ain't as strong as you make out it does amuse me watching them try carry a bag of plaster it's more the knack of getting on shoulder and they can't get it so I used to carry two at a time to show its easy but really I was thinking this is graft

There's 2 different strengths gym strengh and plasterers strength I know a skinny spread and he's strong but cudnt lift a fart in a gym..all in the shoulders

Haha thats the youth of today mate!! Hows he supposed to carry soundboards with his phone glued to his hand!!

Phones off on site , can use at lunch their time.
Although I did have one while back with toilet prob always in there ??!!funny enough looked on his watsapp there he was !!!short message and down the road.
They all think yer idiots and we have never blagged or lived.
Can't be arsed with dicks that don't want to be there and only interest is taking my dosh, drags you down having that shi t energy on site.
Tell em if they like phones so much get job as secretary (y)

To b fair he wasn't that bad with his fone but then again he only did 2 days like wen he started crying I just said mate this s**t isn't for u go get a office job or sumat he was fcking useless he was

id rather work the extra hour or so a day and do myself or pay another plasterer good money and don't have to watch them

Its a nitemare had about 6 diff lads In space of 3 years last 1 worked for us for a year gud grafter but he jacked out of the blue wen he had a kid all time n money that went into him as well its just put me off now

One of my mates has found a right good un, 17, isnt scared of a graft, skims, mixes does everything hes asked, goes college on fridays but he says its wank, tools are s**t, teachers s**t + doesnt learn anywhere near as much!!

Ye my old lad used to say that about college that's y little t**t never went! Used to always blob then wud have college ringing us asking where he was..

That is the problem.... if they have a good company to work for then the training is a lot better.... college is a great idea but simply is not working as well as everyone hopes

Thing is dan its basic s**t my old lad said he was once putting a wall on skimming and teacher told him it was break Time and he said wat about my wall teacher said wat about it its dinner time..u cnt do that in real life can you also another lad who went to college was level 2 when he joined us and never used a angle trowel at college didn't even know wat 1 was.

They push apprenticeships and so they should but I learnt more on site than I ever did at college thing is though once they do finally get there nvq they then think they are a plasterer which we know isn't the case then they do the trade only to find out a lot of firms only want "multi trades" and wanna pay 12-14 an hour it's not on really that people can decide a trade as ours is worth only that much imo

Then cheeky bastards ring up saying he's behind on his maths and English written work!! Who gives a flying f**k about that wen there not even teaching practical side right!! Rant over..off to bed

thanks Olican, if you hear of any one give me a shout pal... I'm in south Lanarkshire college, good teacher, good tools, but want to learn more, and do a 2yr apprenticeship to get my SVQ
