Advice about using silicone around ceiling edge

Hi,

I need a ceiling skimming, but not the walls underneath. A plaster has told me that rather than use scrim tape, as he's not doing the walls he will leave a small gap around the edge of the ceiling and then fill with silicone.

Can anyone tell me if that sounds like the right approach or is it cutting corners?

Thanks

Natalie

Scrim the ceiling lines.
Skim the ceiling.
Cut excess scrim of at ceiling line when ceiling finished.
No silicone needed or no caulk needed.
Simplest really.
unless there's some underlying issue you haven't mentioned.

Just scrim upto the very edge then skim. You may get a very fine hairline crack but probably not. If one does appear then run some flexible caulk around the edge. Never use silicone paint won’t stick

It wasn't a plasterer who told you that he was going to use silicone.

But you could run with it.

Happy painting.
