Advice on a job cancellation

Hi just need some advice, i priced a job up 3 weeks ago to plaster out a shop and flat upstairs, it was accepted and ive made a start on it, i have worked 2 days on it, the customer has rang me up today and said she is now getting a firm in to look after the plastering, heating, electrics etc, all in 1, so said she will pay me for what iv done and thats it. the problem is iv booked the job in for the next 2 weeks and now have nothing to fall back onto, are they allowed to do this and is there anything i can do? please only serious replys, thanks
 
unfortunetly mate you gotta just get over it.Even if you got a contract,i doubt youl want to purseue it down the small claim route,cus i doubt shel just roll over and pay you.Its happend to me and i bet most spreads on here can tell you similar stories.
Just pray the bitch gets what coming to her!!!

yes you can squat there and refuse to leave get the papers involved, change your name to skimmy the protester, but they will eventually get you out and your gonna have to reside to the fact your s**t at plastering and should of done what you said you will do and you might not loose out next time :)
 
yer maybe but they have skanked me so i can to them iv lost out now cause turned a 1700 job down last week for this job
 
unfortunately youve not got a leg to stand on, get your two days wages with a bit extra, don't be stupid though

I phoned up one Friday to check we were ready to start on the Monday as agreed, and she said oh we got someone else to do it so we dont need you now.

Theres only one thing you can do about it, and thats f*ck all mate.

flynnman. I have been living in an 80% Asian area for the last 20+ years. I think i know how tight
they are and they are the 1st ones to laugh about how much they haggle. Funny enough as it happens
i have found Chinese people quite tight aswell, followed in third place by Irish subbies. Dunno wot yer problem is mate but im sure most people are having a giggle about "Flynny, saviour of the universe" X

Any big job that I do I ask for a third up front, builder gave me this tip then if they jack on you you have at least some money to fall back on
 
But ul find youl win more work if you dont ask for money up front,when u ask a customer to "show me the money honey" they dont like it unless they no you!!!!!
On bigger jobs over a grand stage payments though......

Yes thats what I am refering to i.e. jobs above £1500 no one as refused to pay up a third up front yet and if they did I would walk away
 
Personaly i wouldnt wanna pay someone a penny up front !! but id happily pay them once i seen some of there work.
Youl win more work if you dont ask for money up front im sure of it. 100%certain actually.

lol it makes me laugh how you jump onto the asians straight away why didnt you say are they irish or chinese first? Im not saving the universe, im irish and ive lived in a 100% black, irish and asian community all my life, but your posts always slag the asians, i suggest you move. :)

why would i say that when i dont drink...................well only one or two and maybe a few more than normal im 100% teetotal. :)
 
back to the original post.... get yerself down the local pet shop, explain you have a couple of lizards and you were wondering what to feed them, they will then offer you a lovelly big bag of juicy lively cockroaches, you then wait for the shop to start trading, and then slip em thru the letterbox, then give it 2 days and call enviromental health, give it a month a do it again......and again ....and again. until they close down or you get bored. you wont get your money back but it will cause them a bit of a headache, and you can smile to yourself every nite when you think about it.
