just after some advice on a ceiling and room where the ceiling joins all the walls with curves and where there is an external corner what you use to create the curve because you cant get a bead there. ive bonded the curve out jw how to do it and would the walls and ceiling all go on in one hit

advice on external curves external at the top. if i was to skim this it wont be a clean edge will it?

The externals are normally on the chimney breast I normally use the brush on them and trowel both sides and its a good idea to have two spreads on the ceiling if theres no picture rail on the walls

anyone think an exteranl angle trowel would work

As i said before just form the arris on the curves with your trowel you are over thinking this. Fit stop or skim bead up to the point where the radius starts and then form the arris/ hard angle/external angle whatever you want to call it using your trowel when applying the finish.

no. it will dig in. i form free hand but when it has just about gone will go over with a piece of plastic corner bead like this to give nice clean arris:

cut small section off and heat up with hair dryer while pressing down gently forming into curve. the flange will flatten slightly but thats fine. cut end at 45 degree angles. you're left with a semi circular piece with a flared end. you have to kind of roll it over the radius rather than drawing right up or down which wont work. this is at home, like, not at the job, making it ... works fine and dandy for me and but hard to explain. if you dont know what i mean i will take a picture for you.

also, when you're just skimming the curves internal mitres etc. i use one of these for the bits i cant get with the trowel, they are brill, much better than sponge in bag. people will laugh because it hasnt got MT on it but its whatever works. get one and try. youll be amazed. you can have this tip for free:

we skim loads like this picture , just skim it don't bother trying to fit any beads to the curve skim it all in one hit and you will get nice sharpe corners just keep putting water on that edge to stop corner tearing

just put it on no beads, use a sponge tightly wrapped in a plastic bag to shape the curves, dont play around with them too early. Flatten everything else off and let them take up, Ive done a lot of these and you can suprise yourself how well you can get them with a little extra time. best of luck bud :RpS_thumbsup: dont forget the pics when your done, bloody love pics me

Free hand it and then just grab a empty crisp packet out yer van nice and wet and it works a treat..

Cheese and onion is the preferred choice, stay away from salt and vinegar!
