Hey lads,I am going to see a job on Monday where the decorator has painted an exterior rendered wall on a swimming pool building.he has painted there a few times in the past but now he has seen that the salts are creating an ngoing problem.i have read about anti sulphate products on here in the past, which ones would you recommend and does it have to be re rendered or just able to decorate straight over the top.cheers in advance.

If you are going to treat walls are going to take render back to brick work? and of late we have had a lot of rain and this seems to bring salt problems out in older buildings.

The problem with salts is that they attract even more moisture once present , yes use a neutraliser if you certain that no more sulphates are going to be drawn into the substrate, otherwise you need to cure that problem first

Thanks for the start here,so warrior obviously I haven't seen it yet but if it appears to be the salts present then would I scrape any loose off? Then neutralise(if so what with)then put a thin coat of some sort over the top.or if it calls for it would a proper job be hacking it off and neutralising first then re rendering.cheers.
