hi im fairly new to plastering iv never used a speedskim before and was just wondering if they are actually any good and if it's something worth getting?

Well they flatten in ok , no gods gift though , still needs finished the same etc

I'm new to plastering as well. Although tempting, I'm sticking with my Marshalltown. It puts it on, flattens out then polishes up a treat.

I wish they had been around when I was training!! I think they will help you no end because it will save you time flattening off. You can get a finish with them but I'd advise you to learn that technique 1st using a trowel.

Yep, couldn't agree more.
Learn the trowel, know your trowel, then worry about shortcuts etc afterwards.

Master the trowel first buddy and then once you understand how that works I would say you are in a prime place to jump on to the other ways of doing things.

Great tools though and well worth a look
