People often ask me if i paint, once i've finished plastering. I used to say no but given the current situation and my love of paint (lol) i've started getting into it. It's a great selling point for your business if you can go the extra mile. Money's not bad either!! 8)

Yeah i do it why not it's extra work ain't it ;D
Plastered & coved a complete kitchen out the other week bloke says could you recommend anyone to paint it.
I said oh i do that aswell mate ;D
He says that's great ;)
So i went back following week painted it for him, just gotta finish walls once his kitchens been fitted. ;)
Most time though customers paint it themselves.

i do all the decoration its easy money also i get people in to do it and still make good money... i have set up a second company doing painting as i find its half my work theys days.. outside work is fantastic money!

iv been thinking about getting into it a bit more as i get asked a lot. how do u price it in comparison to the skimming? so if a room was say £250 labour, would u charge similar labour to paint?

Nick, what you need to realise is, new plasterwork needs 3 coats of mully. Your 1st coat should be a "mist" coat i.e watered down and spread sparingly. This gives you a good base for your subsequent good 2 coats (i always use crown, dulux) Price wise, i'm not greedy because i find painting easy and i always ask the customer to get it in for me. So i'm basically looking for £100-£150 per day. So if you've done a living room, 4 walls and a lid, say, average 5'x4' 1-2 days depending if they want the gloss done too. ;D

i am aware how to paint m8 :)

what im getting at is either price wise, or time wise, would u say it works out about the same as if u were skimming it?

Personally, no. I don't. I always charge less. Realistically a 5x4 ceiling with 3 coats should be no more than £50 (paint supplied) Having said that, time wise, your looking at 2-3 hours.
