areet guys ive been working with my dad doing plastering joinery general building since i left school but i never gained any formal qualifications nvqs etc was just wondering if any of you guys were in the same boat and if so you find it difficult to get work on sites etc ?
 
Not at all mate. I know loads in the game, brickies ,sparks ,leakies and ot one has ever been asked.
If you want to work abroad then maybe but here, its a case of stick you on a wall. If yer crap then you wont get paid or asked back. Thats just my experience any way. ;)
 
never had trouble getting on site until last year. Everywhere is asking for the CSCS card. Domestic work is fine and you don't need one for it

Flynny makes passionate arguements for it. Quals don't make you any better but they make getting your card a s**t load easier. And you may as well get them, you've got nowt to lose and potentially work to gain by having it.

what kind of problems are you having sir? there are some plasterers giving false hope try not to take any notice ;)
 
SOME? :D Not false hope at all. Thats my experience.
Always better to have qualifications than not. If you get a chance then yeh get them. CSCS card is becoming a must on sites but any one can get that. ;)
 
Ive worked quite a bit round the world in years gone by and never been asked for qualifications, might be differernt now though.

ive only not been asked 1 time in past 3 years and the site agent said the company were,nt signed up to it
