He wants the timber pillars rendered, and the timber above.

I suggested cladding it in render board and then using acrylic, what you reckon, looks a fiddly one.

Any ideas for this?

that will be a intresting one render boarding will surely be your best option but am sure u can e.m.l on wood to then use a s/c scratch mate but a could be wrong some off the more experienced lads will tell you how to tackle it good look

Hi FreeD

Does the client not have any details to give an idea of what to do?

Tricky one with some shallow returns into, what I assume from the bottom of the picture, is a window frame.

It looks like the timber (which looks to be external treadted - a good start) is cladding steel uprights? in which case there should be limited, or in fact, no shrinkage.

Is there going to be a new window sill installed? or are you expected to go down to the concrete sill? If there is going to be a new sill, and it is deep enough, pack further out from the timber to align the finish with the upper wall, this will then give you more space for a return into the window.

If you are going down the boarded render route (preferably Knauf Aquapanel External), and want some more help - give me a call 07918766577, or send me some more info / details [email protected]

we have plenty of render system options as well.....

Good Luck

Perfect job for lafarge Gtec render board. Stainless screws. Works like internal board in that you can surform down the joints etc and its familiar & lightweight. Bit of common sense on detailing. Any thin coat render on top, jobs a goodun.

(BITE!!)

I am more than happy to not offer any help...............

There are plenty of boards to use - bang them up, spread it on!

Hi mate,

You have a good eye! Thats what I was thinking pack out the pillars get them in line with upper wall board the lot, bigger return to window and no return at top. Yes its treated timber cladding steel uprights, and that is a window frame.

Think you could membrane, then eml, then Krend. But personally i think it would be quicker better job to board and acrylic.

I will have to take the render down to the copings.

I will contact you for board/render options this is such a small job though I was hoping to get mats locally in Bristol?

just because your using a carrier board, doesnt mean you have to acrylic it, theres the option of using a mineral render on it, same as mono but a lightweight alternative.

Aquapanel for me all the way and top with an acrylic, forget the sand/cemment route, could even create some nice stone or brick effects around those pillars (never used gtec and i don't think that they warrant other systems on their boards)

Give me a shout Freed - we have Knauf Aquapanel Exterior on the shelf in Brizzle, so you can pick up as much or as little as you like from several sources...

Cheers Keith - here to try to help initially - sell the product on the back of it! (Other render boards are available - but we advertise on here and keep the forum alive! :RpS_wink: )

Owls is right - you can basecoat and mesh a board, then apply a lightweight scratch if you want (can advise systems), then you could put a movement joint between the board and block and render the lot!

Warrior is right as well - Wallcrete could be an option as well - the stone on the inside could be matched.....

lots of options!

im usually right,
paul just thinks hes usually right, :RpS_biggrin:
