Hello lads (and any females who also might have a big arm). I'm looking for anyone who is the dogs when it comes to Sika Tanking. I got a job that needs quoting in South London. I have never done tanking and to this day still do not know what it involves exactly. If anyone knows then I could put the job over to you and you give me drink or we do it together or whatever, I just want to know that there is someone who knows who to do it so that someone with the money does not go elsewhere with it. Get back to me.

MT there are different tanking systems that can be deployed - traditional cementitious and more comtemporary membrane based solutions that may even include permanent pumps and drainage equipment. Typically in this scenario the punter wants a long term guarantee as the overall cost can potentially be quite significant.

I'm a subby to 3 different damp proofing companies and I could hook you up with some decent chaps to look after your punter and leave them with an underwritten guarantee and a good drink in it for you. PM me if you get no better offers here on the forum.

I do a good bit of damp plastering work but leave the risk side of things...especially with tanking...to those that specialise in it.

Cheers

I tanked a basement of a pub in Northumberland with sika years ago. the walls were built with granite and very hard however the cement was very porus and water was seeping in like a half turned on tap... anyway we put this pink stuff on the walls and then mixed it up with the S & C and it plugged it no problem.
BUT REMEMBER THIS... you are only stopping the water coming into the area you have treated... it will go somewhere else unless you provide drainage for it.
Phone your local sika rep up and get him to write the specification for you (he will do this as he wants to sell you the product)... follow the spec to the letter and photograph every stage of the job and you shouldnt go far wrong
