job im doing at the moment has had a dpc firm in and all they have done is put like a plastic sheeting over the walls. its not like visqeen more like them plastic sheets that are used instead of glass quite thick with like a mesh over them has anyone seen this before and can you dot n dab straight over them? dpc firm said you can but in my opinion i think it will proberly fall off?

yeah you can dot and dab it pal, just got to make sure the plugs that hold the membrane on are on the right places, for example down the edges of the boadrs and strips down the middle and dab onto the plugs..

It sounds like its a tanking system. You can bad over the one with mesh on but it can be a nightmare if it's not tight and there is enough retaining plugs. Try and get your dabs where the plugs are then fill it out to the perimeter of the board to make it solid. If the tanking is installed well you will be surprised. Don't try rush it you may have to do areas and wait for it to set before you finish off or do alternate walls...have fun

ah right they have left a load of the plugs on site so ill proberly go round and use them all. do you just drill a whole and knock em in?

You have to wrap a sealant around the top of em mate it looks like plasticine strips normally black colour and a strip down the lapped joint aswell

How does the system work. If its a barrier to stop water coming through all the water is just going to fall to the bottom? Doesn't it need to breath

that's why its like egg crate so a small amount of air can get down the back, and you shouldn't get water running down the wall unless its in a basement... and then if its a basement conversion it will have drainage channels and a sump pump.
