I have in a bathroom and had no problems it doesn't pull in very fast but troweled up fine. Not sure if it was right or wrong but it's what the customer instead so I did it

Yep no probs in short, think you know the rest

think you have to thistle bondiit though cos its water resistant and repels the water in skim so i were told many moons ago so i always do and never had no probs

Why are you skimming it. Are you damp proofing or using it in a wet room?

They changed their mind instead of full tiles to the ceiling, can you dab moisture board?

yep you can dab it spunk,they recommend silicone joints between all board joints as well.you can also add the plastic fixings too.they look like mushrooms in shape,you drill a pilot hole through the board into the wall then hammer them in.
