skimmed over artex walls today. put first coat on covering artex that was sound . left it for 25/ twenty minutes then second coated the walls but as i was putting on second coat which was not as thick as first coat it felt like the plaster was not sticking to the first coat and was basicly gliding over the wall it was mad . what may of been problem ??? :-[

Dunno mate that does sound a bit strange.... I have had it before when i skimmed over an artex wall and the pva was a bit wet,when i went to second coat toe first coat was firm but sliding all over the shop but not had what you experienced.

What I recommend is to send spunky a pm, he is very experienced in Fu.ck ups and will have had this problem or similar on a weekly basis so will know the answer to your question and the cure.

personally i let the the first coat practicaly set even start to turn colour then 2nd coat and a 3rd if needed

carlite bond it first then skim you wont have any problems then
