i got a bit of a crappy job to price to day..the celings and walls are all artexed lath! and they have had new electrics added and new door frame ect so its a rite mess the walls have been cut in 2 loads..the artex its reali thick just looks like lods of runs down the walls....im guessing im ganna have to 3coat the walls or at least bond um out first..they dnt scrape v.easy at all..the walls are quite sound sept were the door frame is ..the wall is all loose were they have riped the old frame out...love to rip all the lath outa the room..but that would be loads of work on this small room ..and most of it aint that bad..i did the room next door 6months ago..but i only did 2 coats of skim then..i feel it needs 3 !

thanks..wot if i give it all a coat the day before then PVA and skim the next day.?

yes that would be sound but i would rub it up with your float to provide a key for the finish, the pva will control the suction for you.

just put me quote in..just under £500 ..its a small room bout 3mx3m priced in a labour and pva, bonding, skrim, skim, plasterboard, plastic sheets for floor pretetion ..ect 2days work..
20min drive from home ..nice big house job on 2nd floor ..

wot do you fink..? i feel a lil cheap but theys days gota pay the bills

i did the other room at £430 it was easer les bonding ..but still hard work..but a lil bit bigger room..under cutr me self by bout £15 on it reali..and i had to keep this price the same..im not over boarding..i got a pic of the old room i did..

that was 2 thick coats of skim..im ganna bond it now and then 2 coats like you said..

the problem youve got is most people dont understand if theres more or less work involved unless its obvious, they will notice you put a bigger price in for a smaller room. You may of done the first room cheap but thats the way of the world, they will be thinking, smaller room, less plaster, credit crunch..............or they may think you were quite cheap first time round but who knows, good luck. :)

urmm well i watched me dad plaster since i was about 12..then i got on and off it from bout 15-17 then i got rite on it doin all the jobs for are dad..then about 18-19 he used to send me off to do all the work on me own...learnt from alot of me own f**k ups..then iv been on me own with me own van and all since i was 20 working for my own customers ect im 22 in april with 2 kids and a mortgage :-)

this is ur life! lol

sounds a bit fast tracked but i feel iv learnt alot in a short time and the fact that i take alot of pride in it so im allways buying top kit asking questions ect .. i done all sorts of top end jobs cuz of the customers iv ad..

my down fall if iv not got any backing out and rendering experience .. im sure id be ok with some there to show me.

Yes it will come ,the secret is its all in the floating ;) i must be getting old cause labourers are looking so young (washing the van )

oasis hello m8, over the years I've done loads of them jobs, going by the photo's i would definitely float out in bonding first, i wouldn't even think about trying to bring it out in 3 coats of skim. the way to go is, patch up all areas that need dubbing out with a bit of fast bonding, then bead up,then go round and pva, gauge up some semi fast bonding and bond out starting as if your skimming then lay it in a bit as it tightens up then go round again with a bit of wet bonding to shut it all down, then catch the green suction, then apply your two coat skim both coats together the green bonding will pull the skim in, if u miss the green suction the apply pva as you go, if you catch it right it will all pull in as one piece.

ah rite thanks for all the comments.. ill be hitting this one on wednesday 28th now so another job in the bag:-)

cant be doin 2 bad if they want us back!

will be bonding out all the way..
