i need 1 rather quick, has any 1 got 1 and does any 1 know where to get them. there is a few place's but most want £70+vat.

just missed out on a rather good job b'cos i dont have 1

I did mine with CWE Training from Bristol, 0845 8387107. Come to think about it, i've not had my certificate through yet and I did it months ago.

what does the course involve? just safety stuff.

It details the 3 different types of asbestos and their dangers, makes you aware of where in buildings you are most likely to find asbestos, and which products and materials contain asbestos. It also shows you the effects of asbestos on your health. Once you have got it in you, it isn't coming out!

They dont tell you any more information than you can get on hse website its another money making scheme most jobs where you go an there is asbestos present you usually have an extended induction the last one i did for an M&S refit was 3 hours and included everything they tell you on the asbestos awareness course

Have to disagree napper they are a good card to have and they are not a money making scheme i have one and it goes side by side with my gold cscs card and they are ideal for showing to potential customers, mine is actually a gold one because i passed the course 3 times on the trot getting 100% in each exam and i guarantee this time next year you wont get on any site without it and it wont take long for the domestic client to click on so that will give me an advantage.

when did they start giving cards out for asbestos awareness as fair as i knew it was just a certificate with no expiry date just a pass date but most employers want it passed within the last 12 months the test at the end of 2hour dvd's/talk is a piece of piss u have the answers virtually infront of you

as for gold cscs it hasnt made me a better plasterer or gets me anymore work over a lad with the standard card your right about not getting on to sites tho (apart from the smaller builds) its been gettin harder for the last 5 years

i made my own platinum card just for the domestic market... amazin what you can do with a passport photo, a printer and a laminator ;D
