Don't like to slag gear but today did we have a drama. In pic some of that walls still soaking.
It was cold in there but soon as you touched wall its went all tacky.
We put heating on but don't really think that changed temp of room.
Really hope it's not gear as got 60 more f**k**g bags of it .

No but it was on tight

Joking aside a lad that jumps on with us tries putting it on stupid tight fresh 2nd and always gets that problem he's on his 2nd trowel and it's got dark patches everywhere!

He's a F*****g nightmare to have on the job.

If we put a generous 1 coat on board ours is all 1 nice uniform colour to trowel with plenty of open time.

Contrary to believe try mixing a big wet gauge and put a tight 1st coat on but with a heavy 2nd coat you will never get that problem again pal!

Roughly how long is it between your tight first and the generous.....er.... first?

Posh 1 coat for us would be knock the amount needed for both coats but have it really wet lay 1st on really tight then drop straight back and lay down with a heavier coat with the gear which will have by then got a bit more body to it.

Seems to give you best of both worlds we find.

Or we just dub beadds and joints and put a heavier 1 coat from the off.

f**k a fresh 2nd on boardwork even though it's the correct proper method.

So just one wall (9sqm) on and then drop straight back?
It'll be a while until we're skimming again, but I'm going to give it a go.
