Got a job to price.the spec is k-rend base coat followed by 3mm topcoat.its over new blockwork.ive applied over board, insulation before so know the thickness needed.how thick should the base coat be over the blocks?
Cheers

Hi mate, British Standard states a minimum of 12mm over blockwork.

Through what I have seen and feedback we have had you can get away with 10mm but there is the risk then.

So at that thickness a rule would probably be needed then.mesh also?
Ryan can you mail me tomorrow with prices for the systems you guys sell?

it wont be the same base as you use on board/insulation anyway pal those are very hi polymer adhesives, onto block an ocr or uf base from krend will suffice at a push hp12 but not necessary.

we have done miles of it finished with a silicone texture and manufacturers are more than happy with 10mm thick base with this protective finish.

UF base with mesh at 10mm followed by a 1.5 mm texture is the bulk of what we have done on this type of work

John is right mate. You can use Mapei's standard base-coat onto block but it isn't a cost effective way of doing it. Will send you over the details now mate.
