best tape for brickwork

whats the best tape for masking up the over sailing brickwork can't get anything to stick

American duct tape the orange stuff.

Usually works but cold and damp bricks can still be a problem.

I use a heat gun but a hair dryer will do it. Pre heat the bricks then go over the tape with heat.

Duck tape will do job. Warm in some way before you use though as this weather effects the glue and it won't stick.
