IM AFTER A VAN ANY IDEAS ON THE BEST.WAS THINKING OF A CITREON BERLINGO BUT LOOKS 2 SMALL 2 CARRY PLASTERBOARD IN.

too small for our game mate thats what i had but now got a peugeot boxer great van but some of the lads on here have got mercs an such which are also good vans depends how much ya want to spend mate

toyota hiace, we got one of them, its the duracell of vans. i'm looking for a van at the minute and i'm getting either one of them or a nissan vanette with a roofrack for 8x4s. don't wanna spend too much as itll be mainly for foreigners.

and plus with a transit, you get free rust after a couple of years. ford, they don't stop giving do they!

lwb transit for me there great vans loads of space in the cab and in the back.

Just a thought if you do a lot of work in towns a lwb is a lot harder to park you need nearly a space and a half.

you dont really need a LWB Hightop, the only reason rendersystems has one is because he has to transport all his knowledge!

i've got an Iveco Hpi Daily - 2.3 turbo diesel - On an 04 plate and I only gave £3500 for it about 6 months ago

I was a bit dubious at first having had a transit for years but I have to say Im with Render Systems on this one - I love it - Far roomier than a tranny but not so big you cant park the damn thing

Like all have said before me it all depends on your budget chief

dont get a berlingo ya cant get ya lunch box in back of one of them lol.
idealy you want something that will take a few 8x4s plus some powder and all your gear.
swb transits are a good size and easy to park on tight streets/spaces ect

Ford transit mwb semi hi top, ive got one its 9 foot in back so ideal for boards and kit in front, saves all that diagonal board boll o ck s.
Need a big van really mate,if you by a small one ul regret it for sure.Forget roof racks,no good if raining,no good if u gotta lift 20 boards to that height either, use common sense and get the right tool for the job with the money u got.

ive looked at the hiaces steve the old p/r regs and have heard nothing but praise for em, you see them on ebay ...........never had to fix anything only 335,000 miles

the one my gaffas got is an r reg, 70k on the clock, the only problem with it is a crack about 4 inches long on the back door where he reversed into a post, top notch vans mate. hes never spent a penny on it accept the odd tyre.

Said yes to a new Transporter on Tuesday but have changed my mind. Am negotiating on a Caddy Maxi Sportline. 3 months delivery though so off to get a run around tomorrow.

do you only do site work then?

My suppliers are pretty good with deliveries, even if I only want a few boards. The Caddy Maxi has 2.25 mtrs length in the back which will take my tower scaffold and my tools no problem. I could always use Mickey Mouse 6x3 plasterboards for the odd domestic job, but most of my work is either commercial or for speculative builders. Failing that, I can always buy a trailer.

i'm lookin at the nissan vanette and i've found a roofrack designed for 8x4s. i was a bit reluctant to do it but now u say it, most of our jobs the materials are already on site and the odd time i do need to get big boards i can chuck um up top.

I had a vannette years ago not a bad van. car based so it quick enough.

Mine had 157k on it when the firm bought it never really had a problem.

Only trouble is the engine is under the seats so an oil cheack takes half hour! and it got real hot inside on the motorwayin the summer.
