What they trying to charge if you don't mind me asking?I got an email yesterday from BG saying the BG applicator scheme will be charging from April 2017.
Just out of interest is anyone on here going ahead and paying the fee? Also, have other applicators had some good work from it?
Thanks
Mark
Get involved mate. I believe they're trying to limit the numbers to 2000.That's not bad at all.
I'm only a part timer, don't think it would benefit me other than maybe a few decent leads every now and then.Get involved mate. I believe they're trying to limit the numbers to 2000.
I expected a bit more but like you say it'll come in time. Realistically 1 good job and the £300 is covered. We got a couple of jobs at the very start but nothing since, we'll probably pay it but will wait until april comes to see for sure. They've helped us out with a few bits i've asked them for so can't complain about it. I think it'll be a slow burner.

I ain't heard an ad on radio but I only listen to smooth or lbc at the grand old age of 33 does the fee include the people who already have joined?250 plus vat won't be that bad if you could get 3 decent jobs a year from it

How do you know all this stuff beef? The adverts are just in a few local areas, there doing it to see what is the most effective marketing before they roll it out more.
Theres also adverts going on multi finish as well to recruit other plasterers. Some in the scheme are pissed off about the money and the advertising but as yet its cost nothing so i can't see why people complain myself really.
It's same as other advertising ect and if works for you it works if you don't wanna try it then don't people have had a free year now so all depending if they wanna pay,The adverts are just in a few local areas, there doing it to see what is the most effective marketing before they roll it out more.

I dunno about a cap but @Vincey might. How do you know all this stuff beef?
Are they going to cap the numbers on members?
They will also make money on materials and promoting BG so the £250,000 is worth that on its own so wouldn't say they need 1000 members to cover it.Lots want it to be checkatrade over night and don't want to pay when there not getting work from it which is understandable. The figure we all got in an email is £250k of investment in 2017 so at £250 each it needs 1000 members to break even on that. It can't grow without investment and they won't cover costs on 100 members so its a catch 22.
Yes read about the cap that is true and definite tbh I reframing from joining in this thread as don't want to upset anyone and spiral into a boring rant off so I'll stick to this stated " only want the best plasterers in the u.k " at roughly think it was the number you just said.I dunno about a cap but @Vincey might.
Closed group for members to discuss and share anything plaster or scheme relatedHow do you know all this stuff beef?

I'm not saying it shouldn't be payed for I was saying that budget is also paying to promote their brand aswell. If there spending £250k plus they have to pay staff in the office that run it (lets say 5 staff at an average of £30k) thats £400k to keep it afloat absolute minimum. Its got to come from somewhere and as much as im up for it being free forever being realistic its going to need paying spreads to invest some cash in to it if we expect some work out of it.
