BG applicator fee

I got an email yesterday from BG saying the BG applicator scheme will be charging from April 2017.
Just out of interest is anyone on here going ahead and paying the fee? Also, have other applicators had some good work from it?

Thanks

Mark

We got a couple of jobs at the very start but nothing since, we'll probably pay it but will wait until april comes to see for sure. They've helped us out with a few bits i've asked them for so can't complain about it. I think it'll be a slow burner.

I expected a bit more but like you say it'll come in time. Realistically 1 good job and the £300 is covered.

I ain't heard an ad on radio but I only listen to smooth or lbc at the grand old age of 33 does the fee include the people who already have joined?250 plus vat won't be that bad if you could get 3 decent jobs a year from it

Cue gps to start putting his piece in

I think (know) theres a bigger picture with it so i don't doubt it'll be worth the money eventually im just not sure the next year or two will bring much work in from the scheme itself.

The adverts are just in a few local areas, there doing it to see what is the most effective marketing before they roll it out more.

Theres also adverts going on multi finish as well to recruit other plasterers. Some in the scheme are pissed off about the money and the advertising but as yet its cost nothing so i can't see why people complain myself really.

How do you know all this stuff beef?
Are they going to cap the numbers on members?

Lots want it to be checkatrade over night and don't want to pay when there not getting work from it which is understandable. The figure we all got in an email is £250k of investment in 2017 so at £250 each it needs 1000 members to break even on that. It can't grow without investment and they won't cover costs on 100 members so its a catch 22.

They will also make money on materials and promoting BG so the £250,000 is worth that on its own so wouldn't say they need 1000 members to cover it.

I dunno about a cap but @Vincey might.
Yes read about the cap that is true and definite tbh I reframing from joining in this thread as don't want to upset anyone and spiral into a boring rant off so I'll stick to this stated " only want the best plasterers in the u.k " at roughly think it was the number you just said.

How the fk did I get in then lol

If there spending £250k plus they have to pay staff in the office that run it (lets say 5 staff at an average of £30k) thats £400k to keep it afloat absolute minimum. Its got to come from somewhere and as much as im up for it being free forever being realistic its going to need paying spreads to invest some cash in to it if we expect some work out of it.(y)

I'm not saying it shouldn't be payed for I was saying that budget is also paying to promote their brand aswell.

Only you guys can make the decision if you think it will pay... for £250 I think it is worth a punt... lots of people regretted not getting in checkatrade early...

From what I've got out the scheme up to now I don't think it's worth 300 quid. A nice leather folder and some van stickers, the guys in the office seem quite good at getting back to me on any questions about the scheme, but anything I was unsure of plaster wise Id ask here rather than someone in an office. There's talk of them adding more benefits once the fee comes in, which may make it worth staying in

What you mean is they only want the best plasterers that apply to join, and not "only the best plasterers in the uk" because if they don't apply they ain't joining my friend.

What are you trying to say lol.

You will all be relieved to read that I shall keep out of this thread, unless I'm forced to correct any lies or misleading posts obviously.

I been busy catching up on Brexit feel like starting a new thread on it :coffe:

Couldn't agree more, with Mrs T statement this week on brexit and Donald taking over Friday its a good week for the patriots.
And to read they will always be at a deficit is brilliant, we pay more in than the bottom 10 countries combined good riddenance I say
