Painted a lounge ceiling today for an old couple, skimmed it 2 weeks ago. Got cleared up and noticed a couple of yellow stains bleeding through. Ceiling was Artex painted with Vinyl silk so i used Bond-it pre grit(which is yellow)
Going back with some stain block at the weekend to sort it. Wont be buying bond-it again.

It's not the bond it mate that's a water stain, a water stain will come through anything that is water based, skim, pva, bond it, emulsion.
Needs stain blocking then repainting like you say.:RpS_thumbup:

another reason over boarding saves you less hassles.

If the job had been priced for taking down coving and overboarding, then plastering and new coving with a paint finish the price would have been too high.
Do what the customer wants and can afford before someone else jumps in. Current climate im afraid....

Make or brand is Bond-it and its yellow. There was no water damage or stains on the ceiling and it was given the usual 2 coats of multi. Painted it on day before and it was perfectly dry the next day.
Done enough plastering over last 10 years and never seen anything like it. Only minor stains though thank god, easily fixed.Stick to using wba in future.

there is a rip off version of bg bond it called ........ bond it and it is yellow I bought some from direct building for £20 for the same sized tub

Hi dustydave, sounds to me like heay nicotaine stains on ceiling prior to you skimming? are/were they heavy smokers ive had this a couple of times also had it in kitchens with heavy chip fat grease etc.

Assuming it is you need to get some dulux stain block paint you apply 1 coat which will draw out the stain then apply a second coat to seal then obviously multiple coats of emulsion.

Dont be made to feel that this is your fault/responsibility though mate advise and help by all means but you havent put the stains there i assure you chap!
