Block and Beam ceilings

Anyone have any thoughts on plastering old block and beam ceilings. Client of ours runs large blocks of flats all b&b ceilings and a lot of them have blown in places. Usually prefer to strip back, baton plasterboard and scim, but a few areas it is not justified in doing (25m2 ceiling with small blown patch, rest of ceiling solid) hack back to beam, clean ,pva, tight coat bonding left to set then scim is my plan what do you think?

Can't see it not working but I've never tried it I've only done them when they've been lattered

probably blown on the beams, due to the steel rusting, you might have to treat the steel rods before you plaster.
