Did a chimney breast wall and artex ceiling the other day.
Ceiling no probs at all but.
The wall had been d&d by a guy who works on site. The coving hadn't been removed so the board stood proud of the wall line by about 15mm!
I went along and bonded the gap level then fitted thin coat stop beads level on coving then skimmed to it.
It actually looked ok but I had to give it the shake of the head and sharp intake of breath!!
:o

i cant think ov anythin worse then skimmin over someone elses d+d. as if you d+d up 2 a cove anyway, how come he didnt skim it himself?

He can't! Simple as.
He was a friend who did it for them for nought cos it's what he does for a living!!!!!! He basically goes from site to site whacking up boards. Oh he does tape jointing too.
I stupidly assumed it would be done right and when I quoted I said the cove should come down and I'd relace it. Came down to cost in the end.
I think on domestics you have to think on your feet to solve problems. I don't suppose he has many walls on site that have already been coved!
but then.....
