just had about 5 weeks off with broken foot. first proper day back today. re skim of a room about 45m. was quite looking forward to it as iv been bored out of my mind. changed my mind after about an hour lol. just brought back to me just how s**t plastering is.
 
Aye tis poo mate I hate skimming been Wendering for ages would love to skim but know I wold hate it after 3 hours
 
I really liked doing my job for the first 5 years. Now it's just all about the cash, nothing more!
 
i like rendering. only spraying tho. skimming always seems appealing until ur in the middle of a hit, fancy a brew and the walls pulled in like a bitch and uv put a bit too much on.

iv been doing a bit of painting recently behind a couple of guys that have done a couple of bits for me. never been asked to paint before but thought sod it as the foot is still sore. bit boring but its such an easy life. stop when ever you want, have a proper lunch, only a couple of brushes and a roller and tray to unload each day. bloody heaven compared to plastering
 
I wish I was a dry liner with loads of ceilings and boards to dab on 3 perm lol plastering is poo
 
it would not be so bad if the metre prices were at a good rate
but wen u think how much effort goes in to plastering and you see the other trades dissapering to the wholesalers for 2 hours and proper lunch breaks like sparkys n plumbers and there on same money of not more
 
thats the main things for me is the breaks and the fact u cant stop when u feel like it. ur dictated by the gear going off. and u cant get away with putting little enough on to chill out during a set anymore. thats why i like rendering. go like a loony for an hour or 2, chill out for 3-4 hours, float for an hour or 2.much nicer. and ur outside
 
yer i no what you mean iv not worked much this year as bin signed off with chest problems
but wen did work i never wanted to sit down for an hour cause once sat down and eatten id never want to get back up again lol
but does get to you just permantly at it all day and worse on price wen gotta get as much done as possible
 
Are you breathing in too much dust, northyskim to give chest problems. A few guys use dust masks with filters, do u?
nick, how did you break ur foot? on site...can u claim any compo..yippee
 
yeah was on site. stepped off hop up onto a bit of crap on the floor. turned my ankle over and the ligament pulled the end of the bone off. 5th metatarsal but right under my ankle so bit of a pain. i think they would say it was my fault to be honest

whose crap was it.. H&S is barmy at mo, but u might be able to claim. Heard normal H&S using hop ups is currently being changed so you have to use approved Hop ups (what a load of codswallop). havent worked on site for a fewq years now, but some of my customers won`t work on site cuz of stupid H&S reg`s
 
naaaa not got to the reason yet had another blood test last week and they checked every possible thing they could and every thing cum back clear
hopfully doctor will finally give me a chest x ray and see if any things not right
just makes it difficult cause first happened so long ago cant remember wot i done wen pain first started
 
yer ill keep you updated on how it goes
haha old age im only 25 but feel like going on 70 keep going backwards n forward to doctors everyweek
