on the way to work this morning, driving down the motorway and van started making some crazy noises. took it into a garage of a guy i no in hemel. they put it on the ramp and turns out left front bearing has had it, right is on is way out. so 2 new bearings £305.

so i say, whilst ur at it, can u check the back brakes and do an oil and filter. turns out back brakes are leaking so need new cylinders and fluid needs bleeding. and then he says, oh yeah btw the engine mount is a bit loose.

all in all £530. and a day off

lovely

bloody ell ive driven vans for 6 months with f'cked wheel bearings... sound like lancaster bombers :RpS_laugh:

LOL...... Years ago I 'ran' an old transit van for 12 months that had fkall right with it. I remember the lab was terrified cos I wouldn't use the windscreen wipers in the rain - in case the battery went flat and we couldn't start it to get home :-0....I had to charge it every night cos the alternator was fukd!....Had a dodgy clutch too. I remember the lab having to get out at junctions and signal me when the road was clear, so I could take a run at the junction, then he had to run alongside to get back in:RpS_laugh:... no handbrake, , tyres down to the wires and a wooden floor on 3 x 2 timbers. Cost me £50 when I got it and i filled it with old bits of tin & metal before the scrapdealers picked it up. They gave me £38 for it!!! Not bad for £1 a month:RpS_laugh: I loved that van:RpS_wub:

£530 to fix!! WTF! Just get yourself a new 140 limited. Very difficult to rely on an ageing van. Just ask kebab king and Nisus. Their vans are never away from the garage :RpS_laugh:

good advice,i use to run old vans got sick of the unreliabilty.
bought 2 new trannies last year, now i get up in a morn it starts first time, put heated windscreen on,and away i go. happy days

my old trannie used to sound like it really was gonna literally drop to pieces right there and right then for miles and miles....

turns out it was the centre prop bearing... should have heard it around 50mph.... talk about a wing and a prayer... :RpS_laugh:

What ya mean, it's only been in twice in the last 3weeks :rolleyes)
Oil pressure switch £25 fitted, then a high pitched squealing sound coming from the front wheel took it to a mates tyre garage he said it's fine just a lip on the disc & some shite in it £0:RpS_biggrin:
