Hi guy's
I've been asked to render a garage internally, the exterior wall has earth against it and the damp has come through, would a waterproof agent prevent this from happening again? I can't access the outside wall to remedy it that way.

Don't forget to lap it a good 3 inches using the waterproof seal an do around the plastic plugs aswell then dab onto the plugs

Thanks for your advice, im looking to hack the old render off then apply the vandex, the building is an old barn and constructed from stone, its a really rough background, would it need a s/c scratch coat before vandex?

If it's really rough you could do a sand and cement coat with sika and then vandex. Any chance lime render would do the job ?

It depends on your clients expectations?!
Are they looking to have a generally dryish wall?
Are they looking for a waterproofing job, which this is as it's a retaining wall? And wouldn't expect any dampness to floors and walls?
Cement tanking will push the dampness up into the wall plate, and across the floor.
I would use a membrane system with a drainage channel if it was me.

Cheers lad's, the client expects a dry wall, I've looked at the sika products but was a bit confused by which one is best, I see an alternative to vandex is mapei, has anyone used this, pro's and con's of each?

Dig down outside the wall. Tank and hydro board the wall. Land drain and back fill the hole with pea gravel about a foot widespread the way up the wall. Then you should be able to render inside as normal and as said bang some Sika in to be sure

Tank it if I was you, sbr coat first, tanking then what ever finish you need.

Don't forget the floor is it damp ?
