Blue grit

Ok, I'm new to plastering....but I'll give any job a go before paying anyone else to do it. I was advised to apply blue grit to my ceilings which are already plastered. Did my research also and I know they need a coat of bonding agent such as PVA or....Blue Grit. Anyway I coated the ceilings 48 hours ago and began plastering this morning......the ceiling began to bubble and gradually the plaster fell......is this a regular issue with blue grit?

How many times have you plastered the ceilings now ?

I gave them two coats, it's a garage conversion and the ceilings were already done....but badly! They look spot on now which I'm pretty chuffed with.....but that Blue stuff just peeled straight off.....like it wasn't even stuck!?!?!

Without seeing is very difficult to know what your going over but it sounds like the adhesion has failed i.e. Dusty shoite that the blue grit has sat on top of or what's underneath that i.e. Paint that has been applied over dusty shoite for example.
Don't matter how good the product going on if what's underneath is sitting like a skin most products will state remove all loose and flaky /dusty material before applying for this very reason.

Right, so what's my option mate? Do I persuade the guy I'm doing it for to replace the ceiling or......just paint it!?!

Yeah I realise it's hard for you guys to give the best advice without knowing everything about it....but I appreciate the help. The lad I'm doing it for wants me to scrape off what I've done and just paint it as the ceilings are low enough as it is! Bloody waste of time plastering them yesterday! Pretty piss*d off
