Hi i have been plastering for 17 years now and i have done just about everything to do with plastering, but i can honestly say i have never ever used board finish. I know it uses are pretty limited compared to multi finish but i would like to know is there any difference in the drying times. I just wondered if Board finish was slower going off when doing extremly large areas hence giving you more working time to get larger areas on at a time. Can someone please inform me if there is any difference with the setting times on these two different top coat plasters. thanx

its for low suction backgrounds so it dnt hang round forever on boards but its alot finer though. multy hangs forever on boards.

ok nice one so i assume if i was to use board finish rather than multi finish on plasterboard i would be able to get more sets on a day as it goes off quicker is that about the jist of it ?

ITs about half an hour quicker per set and its a better plaster than multi on boardwork .

nice one mate thanks for your help 2 coats as per normal yeh ?

you say that church, the multi i've been using on board the last couple of days only needs 2 trowels and its smooth and flat. i tried giving it a third but it just started to polish it too much. makes a nice change

I have to say that the multi ive used just lately has been rather rapid, i think i will order a pallet of board finish tomorrow for the job and see how i get on, same old story i spose, dont know till ya try. Its like being a trainee all over again i spose i learned from day 1 to use multi all them years ago and never really felt the need to try board finish before (if it aint broke - dont fix it) curiosity killed the cat init lol

bugger if only it had learned the green cross code, then maybe he/she would have been puuursuaded to look left and right first ::)

personally i prefer two larger sets with multi. Did a large church hall earlier this year with 10x6m walls each side off a tower. One was board finish which had stiffened far too much by the time i got back to the top again, whereas the opposite wall in multi was still soft and easy to trowel. 3 short sets board, 2 biggies multi init
