are there any of these made with a metal handle. The only ones ive seen have plastic ones and their crap. I've snapped two sets now.

Which ones do you mean phil?
I use the blue ones from screwfix had them & few years now no probs.
But my mate had some from b&q yellow ones he's just broke his 2nd pair in a year.
but to be honest I think he's to heavy hande with em & puts to much force on the handle,
I said to him it's only supposed to prop the board not push it through into the loft ;D
He is now using 2 lengths of 2x1 lath as his deadmen.
Not seen any metal handled ones about, but not looked really.

I think i'll get a pair for that price. Where did you get yours from fella? Then again might have a go at makin some. ;)

boardmates are good mate, used them a lot before getting a board lifter. the board lifters from refina are the dogs. makes any size ceiling a one man job.

those screw fix ones are crap, machine mart ones are crap.
get the refina ones

Hmmmm ok then ???
I've used the screwfix ones nearly everyday for the last 3yrs.
If you know how to use them PROPerly they should last for years.

If it does the job, well that's good enough for me!
Better than the deadman I used to use & better than holding the board up with your head ;D

have you tried using boardmate phil ?
No but i've seen them on you tube. Couldn't make up my mind whether it was a good idea or not.
Have you used them? Are they expensive?

I also have a pair of boardmate's phil used them on ceilings in the past,
But I only use them now on sloping ceilings like loft conversions etc & big stairwell Walls if I'm boarding on my own.

I seen em for sale in lidl the other day for a couple a quid each.
Were they the blue metal ones. If so, my mate has them and they are spot on. They're German made and have a sliding lock on them.

just been on that bricky site and saw the non suction float. basically a normal float with holes in it. anyone used one?

I dont get what its realy for, is it for floating finish plaster like we used to on Syraphite if so we dont do that any more, well i certainly dont or is it for one coat? The plastic diamond pattern trowels are sold everywhere in Spain but we dont have any backing plasters at all here all they get used for here is concrete.
Lucius.

My £6.95 pair of board mates have just turned at my U.K. address, i havent seen them but my Mrs says they are plastic but she might have got it wrong my other pair which ive had a few years are metal, anyone know anything.
Lucius.

you can float up when the hardwall is a lot wetter, if you try it with a normal poly one it tends to stick and drag but the diamond ones don't. somebody will disagree but whatever

Bought support rods from screwfix. Blue ones. Did the job and the kitchen ceiling is now boarded. Would have liked to have got better ones but to be honest at £15 I cant complain. Gonna order board mates at a later date but defo metal ones. Cheers lads

Be quick then as their offers don't last long.
You can get a screw in long (about 500mm) bar for the top of them, but not sure where from.
