boarding a celling

when boarding a celling............ i know that the boards have to be staggerd but why is it to stop any cracks spreading right along the join or?. also what thickness of boards do you use on cellings and why compaire to wall. cheers lads

always use 12.5mm. The stagger is mainly to evenly distribute the weight of the boards across the joists.

why is it so importand to use the thicker boards? mate

you could use the 9.5 .. but as a preference i prefer to use the thicker boards ..

9.5mm boards for 400 mm centres or overboarding/walls mate stick to min 12.5 mm min on new ceilings
