theres 2.88m2 in an 8ftx4ft sheet of plasterboard...
joists should be @ 400mm or 600mm centres...
but what if theyre not!!
o bugger....
what if theyre 6 x 400mm actually comes to 2450...
o sh't...
the boards too small...
so go back to last joist... 2000mm board... 400mm wasteage... bugger...
anyway, an 11m2 ceiling is tiny... if its 2,4 or less one way you need 4 boards, no more...
and i'd use 1/2" or 12.5mm, whichever one of those two you can get your hands on...
I'd watch that 1/2" stuff though.... tends to be a bit old and dusty cos it was made in the 60's...
me?? nooooooo... ;D
so here we go...
theres 25.4mm in an inch....
12 inches in a foot...
so when people talk about 8x4 sheets what theyre ACTUALLY refering to is stirling board... which comes out 2440 x 1220....
anyone ever noticed that??
so the flat roofers will space their joists out to meet the stirling board...
then the poor old plasterer comes along with his noddy sizes of 2400x1200 and calls the roofers all the names under the bleedin sun!!!
;D
actually if i remember right, all timber comes out 2440x1220... far eastern ply, stirling, chipboard, blockboard the lot... how f'ckin stupid is that in this day and age???
