Do any of you use a mix of bonding mixed with multi as a fisrt coat over heavy artex? followed by a finalo coat of finish?

I know its acceptable for a tight coat of bonding then two coat skim but thats three sets :RpS_bored:

I suppose the gear would go off faster if mixed Just wondered?

I've only skimmed over a couple of Artex ceilings and they have both cracked...don't bother anymore, take down, overboard or walk away. If it were me i'd do tight coat of bonding then 2 coats skim.

told the bloke to reboard he wont pay out for it. Told him i wud use wba and plaster over but offer no guarantee he was happy with that.

scrap, seal, nice thick coat of finish ,next coat , trowel up, clean up, get in van and drive home

Over Board it or leave it 6 boards 30 quid half hour to an hour fitting and perfect finish. i never bond ceilings i had one come down on me 15 years ago and have never done it since

Doubt it'd work bonding stays spongy till it's set vie heard of lads doing it on chases try it and let us know

I often mix finish in with bonding and I reckon it pulls it in a bit faster, usually able to turn around same day.

Didn't segs say he does that dave? Regards to the ceiling. Either pva or wba then a coat of bonding if its particularly thick, although I've only ever needed to do that once. Otherwise just prime it, thick first coat, leave it for 20-30 mins let it firm up quite a bit then second coat. Time it right and its lovely to lay in.

tbh its prob my inexperience thinking about bonding. im sure two thick coats of multi will be fine after the wba. Thanks for the swift replies :RpS_thumbsup:

it goes lovely if u bond the lid out first. skim over it when it just starts to firm so the multi stays wet a bit. goes lovely. if uv got the time its well worth it. especially on the swirly crap

but cant see the point in mixing then one coat of multi. either bond and skim as normal, or as above, one thick first coat, let it pick up, trowel flat, tight 2nd coat and its no different to normal

agree or just thistle one coad if thicker

i plastered over a very fine stiple 1s using just multy.2 days later i got a call saying it had cracked.so went back started 2 scrape the plaster back off as it had came away from the ceiling.when i was scraping i noticed the ceiling was moving .what had happend was there was not enuf screws in the ceiling it was a fairly new build.so the boards had buckeld and moved.so i went and put plenty more screws in the ceiling.re skimmed and it was ok.just 1 2 watch out 4 when plastering over an artex ceiling.
