After sum advice please , I'me just doing a room and the ceiling is not level from one side to the other , and there is also a hollow about 12mm deep .
It was a late ceiling originally that's bin over boarded , the ceiling itself is sound with know cracks , and you can't push the boards up.
The owner of the house is 76 and when i turned up he had stripped all the blown plaster , all 4 walls , and also stipped the ceiling back to bare plaster , bless him I couldn't believe it .
Anyway the question is can I level the ceiling with bonding , what's the best primer , should i use a grit primer .
Any tips would be great

Hi I would be concerned about putting a thick coat of bonding on a ceiling, I have had ceiling where the bonding has not keyed , and blown after a few days, my advise would be to under draw the ceiling with new timbers if that is an option available

That would be my normal method or remove it completely but the old boy spent days getting all the paint off , just don't want to tell him it was a wast of his time

Best just doing what you were taught when you served your time. That's what I do. Jobs a good'n! :-D

if the rivits in the lath are ok.bonding would be ok.as long as existing is ok and the rivits in the lath havent blown.

Thank you for the replies , the ceiling is sound and has not pulled anywere ,you can not push it up .
I have had a look in the loft and the joist's are not level , there not far off a match for the ceiling below .
I've not used EML on a ceiling before , if i use it whats the best way to fix it bearing in mind the joists are 450mm apart .
would you recommend a grit primmer , if so witch one .
