Morning,

Quick question, is there anything wrong with Bonding straight over a brick wall followed by skimming without boarding the wall?

Will the skim eventually crack? or are there any other negatives by doing it this way?

It is a very small section of wall.

Regards

No problem bonding over it if it's not painted. Just clean of any dust. Give it a sprinkle of water and bond.

Just clean of any dust

.

Worked with a guy who was bonding a ceiling in old house about 6 months ago, ceiling was as dusty as fcuk, he just went ahead and bonded it. When troweling over it it was blistering up like the rocky roads to Dublin. Told him to remove it and do it properly thou the f**k*r didn't listen. Im surprised he hasn't had the call yet to come and redo it because I was expecting the ceiling not to last long up.

on renovations in Glasgow tenements old very dusty walls clerk a works had us mixing bonding and browning half and half to coat and float then finish with board finish never any probs apart from stuff sticking to everything feather edge darby etc al was ok long you got the finish on in the afternoon. a never saw any sence in it never did understand his reasoning.. any other similar jobs with high suction wee used hsb high suction browning or put feb mix through the normal browning....

Why not hardwall?

have you ever used that?

Used it twice and hated it...
Used bg stuff for around 2-3 years in early nineties but decided it was not as good as browning and carlite but usefull on a one off wall.
I like the knauf version and used it a few weeks ago on a wall with high suction but with atound 15mm to cover it all pulled in and finished ok.
