I posted on here a few months back looking for advice regarding a rendering job I was having done. The problems were that it was bumpy but also colour differences in the coloured render.

The render used was Marmorit Knauf mono, in white. After posting on here a rep came from Knauf to inspect the render. He agreed it was patchy but had no explanation as to why. His advice was to try jet washing the areas that were a much lighter shade of white, failing that go over it with another coat.

Needless to say the jet washing did nothing, so the guys re-beaded the effected walls, which were the front and back (excluding the side) and went over again. The exact same thing happened again on the second coat, unsightly white streaks different shades to the rest.

With Knauf unable to provide any explanation the only solution has been to use mendrend rend it colour matched penetrating acrylic and paint the front of the house to cover the streaks/patches.

In addition to this the beading has come loose in several places and the render has cracked and blown. There are 4 areas around the back of the house where this has happened, and the company who carried out the work were supposed to be coming back to hack it off, re-render and if needed paint over with the acrylic paint if the colour didn't blend in properly. The problem is I believe they have now lost interest and I am being given the run around, months pass with no contact and I don't think they are coming back to finish the job.

I would not recommend Knauf render at all, having had my garage done with Weber that appeared to be a far better render.

Any thoughts on how to go about repairing these blown sections, or anybody BRISTOL based that might take on the repairs?

Thanks

It's not the render that's at fault, it's the applicator. Full of misses, bead movements, bad job that.

So has nobody else had this issue with colour patches in coloured render?

Lime bloom can cause patchiness and is unavoidable, we very rarely have this issue with coloured renders, and if we do only with the darker colours.

@Azzer1704 From the pics the variation in colour look like misses, where the applicator hasn't scraped back the entire surface of the render leaving the light patches on the unscraped areas.
The beads I'm unsure about, something drastic has gone wrong for so many to fail. Poorly fixed, maybe stuck on the same day as the render was applied.

Is bad workmanship covered on house insurance? Looks like FreeD/Adcar has scarpered now so maybe best getting it knocked off and start again with a reputable contractor.

Based on what you have said the only way for me is hack off and re do. We can do it with Weber Pral M for you with insurance backed warranty if required on workmanship and materials. We are booked up until Spring 2016. PM me for my contact details.

Thanks :D so what can be done to fix the OP's problem? Hack off and re do? seems to be the common solution to poor workmanship...

If it was just the missis it could be painted but the beads are loose so will have to come off. Hack off and redo.

I'm Bristol based.
Like FreeD were also booked until next spring.
From the pictures it doesn't look the best, What back ground did they render over.
If you don't want the outlay of redoing then your going to have to live with what you got and make the best of it to be honest.
You could put some mend rend in the cracks and hope they don't come back although looking at the lead it isn't dressed properly so probably a lot of movement. The misses are something that won't go away. If you want to PM me your details I could take a quick look for you but unless it was redone we wouldn't put our name to it sorry.

Looks like they might have used 10 mm beads in order to save on render. This might explain why the beads are moving/cracking etc. It's quite obviously poor workmanship though rather than poor products
