Well am convinced useing a carbon trowel will give a better finish then a stainless trowel. It just seems when looking for the final pass you can trowel that bit sooner with the carbon, were as stainless it seems not to have the intereaction with the skim like a carbon trowel when looking for the final trowel up.
I do like a stainless trowel but maybe I will change back to a carbon again. I might even get my old black ragni out again.

There is a story to it hollybank. On a new build what this chippie had built, I nicked me trowel on a screw head right pissed me off. Anyway ask the guy if he had a fine file to take it gap out. Because he did the boarding, so it was his fault. He gave me this 13" black rag what he had used so worn in a bit, . I really like it. A bit heavy but still a good trowel . Another guy who had a go at plastering and feck up gave me a stainless steel ragni 11" never used it.

Show them a bit of love beddy and they will serve you well, they have been on the go years.

Love the ragni carbon been using one or two for 30 yrs, bought a marshaltown last year its still in the van ,feels like a shovel to me.

yes henry i dont use the trowel ones altho i would. i think the ones on e bay for 15 £ are ok.i have home made ones made from exit plastic sign i have it on a long stick for walls and ceilings i just use it it on last sweep leaves it nice and deffo 1 less trowel up

i got marshalltown tyzack and ragni, i use the ragni most often but the rivets have gone on the blade after 12 months still a nice trowel tho

How big is it rock . I was thinking if I could get my pole sander to stick to the plastic this would be ideal with it having the Swivel on the sander head. You better get a patent on it rock or the chinese will be buying all the exit signs LOL.

i cant post a piccy im an idiot.its jst one of those fire exit signs screwed on a batten about 1/2 inch hanging over then another one screwed over it with about 1 inch hanging over from the batten then just made some handle and away you go i only use it as i say on final trowel but boy duz it kid everybody that i can plaster its a handy weapon would nt be without

the scousers invented it maybe one on here cud post a picture

What sort of fecking plasterer doesn't carry his own oil stone?

me andy, i got a set of the little diamond cards...
great in theory, and practice, till the diamond starts coming off once you run a 1/2" chisel over em...

they dont clog up like an oilstone though, you can run all the slip off the middle off the trowel on a friday if you been a bit lazy through the week...

Andy got you mixed up with someone else. When I gapped the trowel I just dropped onto my 11" trowel . I find with the staimless trowels hard to take a gap out of the blade with them been so thin . Hence the guy gave me the black ragni for spreading.
