carbon nela

Since putting together my sharpening set thanks to @beddy, I can't help sharpening trowels. My nela premium is lovely now it's like a razor and my two new extra lites are just bliss to use. Second rub is a treat, I can't seem to go back to fleck trowels now

And so, in time, everything comes full circle......imo there is nothing quite like the "feel" you get from a nicely worn in trowel. The flex types we all have do help to get "the feel" quickly, but they are by necessity replicating the really "worn in " trowel we all love and hanker for, but find difficult to get because we,do far less sand/cement than we used to. You've only to read the tyzack thread to see that. However,I lurrve my mediflex.
Bring back sand and cement. ......

is there one out yet if so has anyone tried one and who sells em thanks
I got 3 new (sizes) prototype carbon trowels currently being made for me... they aren't nela brand though and currently the handle is still in design stage, any new handle material preferred can be put on it,if anyone has any suggestions?
Much appreciated, keep you posted
Hopefully some more will be available early 2017 :numberone: GB&I trowels

Beddy uses Japanese waterstones, I just used a masterclass whetstone and found it worked very well. So process is this; soak stone in water til bubbles stop, start on roughest edge then smooth, then work the blade up a piece of Welsh slate or similar then finish off on a barbers strop with a blob of chromium oxide. All sounds fancy but whole lot was less than £20 .

Any chance of a pic of the new trowels when you have them? Hehe
My bespoke design would be 13/14 ", steel like a tyzack, nela type handle, flatness of a goldblatt

You got any pictures of the underside of the trowel Oli? Tempted to do this myself, I've never actually had a really really well worn in skimming trowel, normally get a few years out of one then you pick it up one day and it looks like a boomerang :crying:
