Got a dot and Dab to do of a new porch and I'm wondering how to close this cavity off. I don't know why the builders haven't done it :s

Can someone advise please...thanks.

Shouldn't the builders have done this? Or is it normal to leave it?

Also, that insulation...isn't that a bit old school now.

Thanks

The builder would normally fit the cavity closure.
Not sure about the insulation I believe theres no minimum thickness but a u value the wall as a whole must achieve I maybe wrong though. @imago @johniosaif can probably clear that up.

Cavity closure if it won fit and you have to dr it too much cut a piece of celotex to fit the gap and foam it in, building control are happy with either.

Thanks for the good replies. Will have to try the cavity closers first...if can't get it in will go with foam

Is it building regs to close the cavity a though? Like are the builders in the wrong?

Just for future reference

Yes the, well a, builder would/should.

It's hard to tell exactly from the picture, but if they're 100mm blocks that doesn't look like a 100mm cavity to me? 100mm cavities are usually either full fill rockwool type insulation or partial fill with 50mm celotex on the inner wall side of the cavity. The partial fill is reckoned to be better, but it's more expensive to do. So .....

If put a continuous bead of dab for airtightness you might get away with it, maybe use a 15mm board, it's apain dabbing on cavity closers so positive in that way.

Yep dot it u dont know what u cant see not great advice but someone left it like that b4 u got there job done get paid we aint got time to f**k about in this game me old fruitcake!!:chica:
