I Takiing a ceiling down today 12x12, 80s when built there was only 32 nails used to board this ceiling rough feckers and the joist was running 1" out of plumb from end to end .

Easy dropped then Henry.:RpS_thumbup:

Just out of interest, was it sagging or anything or was 32 enough to keep it in place :RpS_crying:

for sure it was sagging how the fukc they got away with it I will never no. It seems to me most think plastering about speed only, We was just as quick in the past as what they are now , plus we never a power wisk never had spats , never had big trowels just a 11" trowels.

When I was with my old gaffer we had to sweep up all the nails after each room was completed, then scrat through them for all the good ones.............."It's surprising how many you'll collect"

my grandad had a quite big plastering company with his own lime pitts etc.when i started i worked with some old boys who worked for him, they told me how he used to weigh the nails for lathing out and rarely did they have a handfull left:RpS_thumbsup:

On site My old gaffer used to make collect all the off cuts of board and dab n tack the cupboards. I used to use more scrim than they'd use in the rest of the flat!

I must admit I would save a fart if I could, I mean just look at the price for 25 kg bag of sand what a rip off.

I just have 2 small bits of board in the van just in case . I will confess I am a skip diver had some good bits out of them over the years.

well if your van is tidy inside what is the problem, A lot of lads I know there van is a shite hole could not live like that . and those who have the front of the cab piled high with crap is beyond me.

reminds me of my mate who does maintenance stuff. his van is mint. gets to store all his tools at the gaffers. he's got seat covers on too.

he couldn't believe the state of my van, but like i said, i move sacks of frrigging dust around, what do you expect.

i dont get all that stuff on the dash s**t, like something out of the tv show the gaffer:RpS_scared:

I usually have half bags and bits of boards in the back but the front is filthy, when i decide to clean it out its atleast a full bin bag of shite, i think it puts the thieves off.
