is it me or is this the worst background to plaster on. everything just draws in so quickly. hardwall i don't rate/ like. s+c is my prefered option, but but still draws in quick. i do scratch first and then float but suction still seems quick. and blocks don't seem to have a great key either.. happier when i see agglite blocks :) ... just intrested to see what you all thought about them.. cheers all

If your going to float on block work like that tough coat is best its for high suction backgrounds, if the suction is too bad use gypprime to control it

p.v.a it the day before at about 2-3/1 youll be surprised at the difference mate because it will seal it, if it's externall use rendaid
p.s you shouldnt need a scratch coat on internall work mate ;)

nice one.. ;) will try tough coat. hosing down i'll try outside but don't fancy using a hose for internal walls. i'd be worried about the water going everywhere.. :o

try not to do this but find suction so quick, >:( by the time i've put me screed up and ruled once its ready to devil, the ruled off s+c has to be sent back to the mixer and knocked up again. will try pva too. thanks for replies.. ;D

Sand and cement should be about a 6 a to 1 mix on thermalite it no good when its too strong, also you should'nt really remix in the mixer either mate

screeds are a good start mate if youre finding it's going off quick cut the inside edges off so you wont drag these when youre ruling off the main section .........regardless it'll go off quicker therm block isn't designed for solid plastering but if youre screeds are good just rule off them even if they are rock hard it's better than block ruling and it all going pear shaped ;)
