Turned up at a rush job today, which had to be done in one day. Before unloading the van I have a quick look at the plasterboarding. I'd told them previously what I expect from plasterboarding, to which they told me that they knew as they wern't idiots. Some of the screws were into deep, some hanging out to much. Gaps were over 10mm in places. Best bit though was that they'd spent 2 days boarding. The boards were the wrong way round. 'Your wronge' they told me. 'Tapered side is for taping and jointing, dark side is for skimming' 'well' I said, 'why can I see plaster on other side printed on every board'.
I did ask them originaly if they wanted me to do it. Also the bloke who done it had said to me minutes befor that he could do pretty much anything in the building trade.

Yeah but did he say he could do it well?

Punter thinks:

" I could do this myself, I done alright with them boards, but I'll let a plasterer do it cos I'm short of time - yes, I'll get a plasterer in -just to save time like "

Now fast forward a week, the joints are showing through the fresh paintwork - expertly applied by the genius:

" Thought he would have made a better job of them joints.......F*ckin plasterers, I've sh*t them "

Now the boards start to fail faster than the punters' memory:

" That plasterer was a right c*nt - why did I get him to do this. Wait til everyone asks me about this, I'll soon tell them about that f*cker - I knew I should have done it myself "

NOW ASK YOURSELF - IS IT WORTH IT FOR A DAYS PAY????

I hope you f*cked him off >:(

tommy walsh always says the white side is for tape and joint, and the brown side is for skimming. thats where they probably got it from

:D i saw that, was tommys mate though werent it?

only cus tommy tells him. i once saw it where he was stood with a board next to him telling you to plaster the brown side, and right next to him on the board it said 'PLASTER OTHER SIDE ONLY' fuc.king bell end that bloke is

I ended up boarding a wall in another part of the house whilst the other fella changed all the boards around. Done a bit for the customer before. He had some badly fitted doors and windows which went in with a typical 20mm diferance from top to bottom. The other fella fitted some gutering, but didn't allow for a fall, so rain water just sat there.
He needed the whole house skimming back in march, but I was to busy. A couple of younguns qouted £2500 for a 3 bed in surrey. Also included coving every room. 2 bedrooms never got coved, so he got me in to do them. In one room the ceiling went out 1m then dropped 2 inches. I had to float half the ceiling, then skim reskim it. Also the fella said he was treating the house like a site, so didn't make good mitres etc on coving. Also had 3 cuts per 3m wall. When they used nails to rest coving on they nailed through coving, so loads of hammer marks

I know. They didn't even line up. Fortunatly I found coving a piece of piss from day dot. I can't see how anyonw who is capable of plastering can't cove. They're also on check a trade

They told me that the labourer spent two days scraping floors, cleaning window and doors as well as all wood work. That's what you get when some random bloke knocks on your door claiming to be a spread. Should I check on your work? Oh, no need, it says check a trade on your van, so you must be good
