I would imagine you pay to get vetted and then pay for job leads
to be honest barry, didnt even think you got job leads? just thought customers see the CHECKATRADE sign and know that you have been vetted.
about the price i dont think its alot i will go back to the website and get more info.
just wanted to know if any of the boys had it?? :-\ :-\

its a load of poo and not recognised mate dont bother ................for all i know you could have made it up

There will be leads to play for mate. The other point being if people on here who are in the trade have not heard of checkatrade then how much are jo public gonna know about them

Good point, that's what i thought, and they want to check your credit rating, i wonder why ?, perhaps to make sure they get their money.................waste of time me thinks.

If youre going down that avenue might as well just set yourself up a website called tradevet or something like that and make yourself a sticker for your van

lol...good idea, very true tho. your paying for the sticker. all money makers!! :(

Mate paid £1000 for a year. Took 3 months to get 1 call, which is also his only one. Every week you move up and down a list of something like a couple of hundred plasterers. He was number 39 in the surrey area, and 19th in 5 mile radious. You can also see how many reviews they get and customers write up about you. Thing is you could make a load up. They also rate you out of ten, so a lot of them rate themselves 10 out of 10 on there bogus ratings.

oh and to say its expensive its a load of b*ll***s, it costs me about £44 a month, you get your website you can edit any time you like, stickers for the van, feedback cards to give to all your customers, work that out over a year and its cheap in comparison to any other advertising! esspecially for what you get!

Put it this way, a couple of years ago we were getting anything up to about 10 calls a week from it, pays for itself in no time, and looks good on the van!

when i see these types of firms i always ask myself, does anyone ever ask if i am a member of such a scheme and all the time its NO so if nobody is asing if you belong to a scheme then why be a member.

why would they ask if your a member, when they cleary didnt get you off the site anyway, thatd be qquite obvious that you WERENT a member.

I think your all missing the point of checkatrade, its just an advertising company, where each customer rates you and your work after each job, thats it, if your s**t, you will get kicked off the site, if your good, it gives future customers some sort of peace of mind.

1 - its cheap
2 - its better than other advertising as you get your own web page and can come up in any search catorgary you choose.
3 - it has everything other advertising companies have, and more

so I dont understand why anyone would have an issue with it, its not like my hammer etc/ you dont pay for leads etc/

Now here is the thing freerider I use to make alot of money from ratedpeople when I started out on my own ( i still use it now and again ). But it gets slated time after time. new tricks and old dogs spring to mind (please no one get offended) but these sites do work not for all I admit, but they work its also a bit like stilts those who use them think they are great but those who cant use them think they are rubbish. That said checkatrade I have not heard off lol.

What do you mean by a long process, to get on there?

I did it about 3 years ago, the guy just comes out, talks to you, asks what catorgaries you would like to go in etc/ etc/

And thats it pay about 40-50quid a month, website up n running, add pictures, edit ya txt etc/

my father in law was talking about this last weekend, he said it was £75 a year... he does talk some sheite though! (lives in bournemouth, don't know if that makes any difference)

Ffs! Since when is 44 pound not alot of money. Its a load of (german word)

are you having a laugh?

remind me again how much it is to be in the yellow pages, for a BIG advert that no one ever reads?

and how much does it cost again for the local rag? a f**k**g fortune thats what!

I will say this though, being why a lot of you may not know it, its a Southern England/London based company at the minute, as far as Im away they havent really branched out around the country yet!

I dont touch the yellow pages, but it is a nationally known thing. Checkatrade is a load of s**t made by some computer geek to take your money. All these sites are the same and as i said previously if you really want to join one of these things then just make your own

haha ok Mr know it all.

You do realise between a handful of us checkatrade has generated well in excess of a few HUNDRED grands worth of work over a couple years..

But hey, Im talking s**t and its just a s**t site like the rest of them.

All plasterers are cowboys, actually no, thats rubbish aint it? exactly they aint all that bad.. just like not ALL advertising companies are money grabbing c**ts, SOME actually do work and are legit.

A few hundred grand over a couple of years! As if that was true you would be telling everyone!? Would you f**k! Your just some nobhead making some i.t graduate rich
