I've been asked to quote for coloured render, but in my 40 years plastering I've never used it.
Anyone fancy teaching an old dog a new trick??

Any helpful information would be appreciated, ie; cost, source, manageability, application tips etc.

Thanks in advance, Pete

HI mate, do you know what type of colour render?. Ive used weber and maxit, the materials cost a lot about a tener a bag and a bag will just about do a square metre. So make sure you price it properly.

pete i would suddgest you give k-rend a call they do a days course on all these modern day renders and the best part is its free i done it a few years ago and found it very interesting ,or if you fancy a holiday in scotland i would be more than happy to show you :D

If it's not a scraped render finish they are after you can also make your own coloured render using just white sand, white cement and a cement pigment, there are various colours available and if used with a bit of thought (like any rendering) good results can be achieved.

Thanks chaps, now at least I can 'sound' as if I know what I'm talking about when I ask him which product he'd like to use ;)

Seems expensive, but I suppose customers will appreciate that anyway if they're knowlegeable.

Is the K-rend and similar a problem when mixing or applying?

May well check out the K-rend course for my son. (thanks Pwi, but Scotland's a bit far :-)

As for Del - wish I felt as good :-(

Cheers, Pete.

Ha-Ha :) The banter's fine chaps (Good for the soul)
But as a Dad to 8 grown-up kids, I think I've nailed my colours to the wall.
(Sorry Girls ;)

As for the render, it looks like the price scared him, so he's having normal render coloured with pigment now.
But some useful info here anyway, one of my lads is going to check out the free day-course with K-rend and stacking himself up with free brochures as more people enquiring about coloured render options lately.

Seems we in the South-East haven't been hit by the recession (Yet :-\

pete i thought it was a pic of youre missus ;D........do you mean he's having a pigment added to s/cement mate?...sorry but i cant see the point he's moaned at a through coloured pretty reliable system and know he's going back to coloured sand cement that can look very poo ...........why not just paint it?

The reason why its sounds expensive is that its meant to be a mono ... one coat .... cheaper to apply, what you lose on the material you gain on the the labour cost
