Hey guys, im an irish man(dont hold it against me)and have been plastering for over ten years and although i have always been kept going even in recession i was thinking of moving over to england as i have a friend who is a blocklayer and he went over bout 3 months ago, he said things were booming over there( based in london) and was on good money, just wondering what kind of wage a plasterer would make and is work plentyfull over there cheers.

What part of Ireland are you in?
I believe there is a good bit over there, but you'd want to be earning plenty in London!

Wouldn't bother mate. Because your not established you'll have to work on site with 2 million poles and 3 million Romanians. It's not like yrs ago when you'd ring an Irish subbie and get a start. Now it's all agency's @£13 an hour if you're lucky

In all fairness I live about ten miles from London and all the times I've worked in the city it's been alright, mainly tape and jointing though? I never seen or heard any jam roles being able to finish the way we do? And a lot of firms won't use them for skilled work, just labour. But I prefer to work out london and more south. Get a nose bleed when I cross the river haha
