corner beads

I have inherited a scratch coated property - the quality of the finish looks good and is ready to be top coated.

However, scrach coat is rendered flush with the corner beads. I have managed to get some 6mm battens to render between and then rule off to get an even surface before feathering/floating - my question is what do I do at the corners/edges?

Do I taper the render towards the corner - this would make it very thin, do I fix a straight edge to the corner leaving 6 mm standing proud in line with my battens or, do I fix another set of corner beads to stand proud?

Thanks

Just tight fix another bead over the one thats been worked flush. Why are you using battens, or are you a DIYer?
Just thought, what about at the bottom of the wall and over the windows, has it been worked flush with the bellmouth beads?

Thanks mate.

I am a DIYer and although I am pretty competent I lack the bottle to try the topcoat without battens.

There is 20mm stop bead along the bottom og the wall and above the windows so there is no problem here.

I think I will follow your advice about fixing another corner bead on the walls and window rebates.

How would you fix them inititially?

would you screw/nail them before rendering?

Cheers for the advice

The problem I can see is that if the corner beads have been fixed in the correct position in relation with the bellcast and have then been worked flush, as that would mean that the scratch coat would be flush with the bellcast also.

I know it's still not easy to see what I mean from those pics but you should get the idea.
As for fixing I'd personally try putting a stainless nail in first and if that drives through the scratch and into the block/brick work then use them. Either that or drill and screw, I think it would be difficult to stick the bead on that tightly with muck. All that is assuming the use of metal beads. You could however use plastic beads which you can get in an 8mm angle bead and an 8-10mm bellcast and this could be the best answer if the scratch has for some weird reason been put on flush with the bellcast as well as the angle beads.
