Cornice Job

I am on a job just now where the dining room needs a length of cornice putting in. Three of the walls (rectangular room) had cornice fitted when the house was built in the 80's the last wall did not. I think this was because the wall was left as exposed brick but I have plastered over it now. Anyway, customer wants to put the final piece in to make the room look right. She has done some research on t'internet and tells me what she has is a design called "Icanthus Leaf" but i have probably totally misspelt this. To me, it really looks like a monkeys face repeating itself around the room!

She can't find a supplier anywhere so has asked me to do something with it. I cant do mould running/fibrous work so need to know off one of you how much it would be for one of you who know how to do it to come down or up and run a mold or whatever you need to do. Just need to decide whether it is better to pay someone to do one length or have me rip it all down, repair damaged walls/ceilings and fix new stuff up.

The wall is 4.7m long and standard height of 2.3m. Existing cornice is 160mm projection.

If you are interested then please pm me with a price for doing the job. It is in Stratford on Avon and needs doing before Christmas ideally but can wait til Jan if it has to.

Do not bother contacting me if you are a one post monkey cos I will not even consider recommending someone whose posts I do not recognise.

Cheers all

Have a look on the internet at Aristocast or Regency Mouldings. Measure the projection and the distance down the wall and you should be able to get some to match. Acanthus is a pretty standard pattern and most companies make several sizes of cornice. Probably cost you about £25 a length and 2 lengths will do your wall.

This is close. Large Acanthus Cornice

And here. Plaster coving, cornices, mouldings and plaques - Bill O'Gorman, Plaster mouldings

If they can wait until next July, i'll do it when I come up for Global Gathering.

John AP Molloys in holbrooks specialise in fibrous plastering and are VERY good. He can supply only or supply and fit.

ok thanks guys. no one fancies doing it then? I'll have a look at those websites you posted up Tony and Beddy and see if can get something to match. Means I'll have to put it up I suppose so I may well come asking the question at some point soon as to how to go about it properly!

Cheers
