hi guys iam back but no fights please,

I have been offered a 30 house contract coving social houseing (council estates)

they are full re-wire jobs but the councel wants very little mess and upheavel to the tennants, so they have decided to trunk the walls instead of chasing them, and run the wires along the tops of the walls and cove most rooms to hide the wires,

now normaly I cove quite alot as part of my job but its allways on new work, just useing nauf dry wall adesive, and never had problems with it as its very similar to nauf cove adesive

now on old dry walls I dont fancy useing drywall adesive need something strong enough to use by myself so I can put a lenth up and forget it (no support needed) so that rules out artex something ready mixed maybees? many years ago I used tile adesive for work similar to this but only certain kinds worked well, any ideas?

i use knauf drywall all the time on old work, i just pva the surface first, cut as many as possible before i mix up, works for me..
I find artex holds up ok too, just mix a bit thicker (so its like drywall basically)... dunno if you noticed but the knauf cove you get from wickes is 'now 20 percent lighter' according to the pack anyhow... and its a f'ck sight cheaper than gyproc from the merchants..
still...council contract, i suppose theyll be supplying?
plus... anything else 'cove adhesive' related usually costs a lot more...
all that said, i did a house last year, labour only and the bloke got this cove adhesive from 'ridgeons' builders merchants, good size 25kg bags, good stuff, lasted longer than drywall adhesive and stuck like sh't to a blanket... used it on all the 'cornice' (just ovolo cove)..
