Cracks after joint tape not used on ceiling / wall joint - cause and solution?

As the title says really: I plastered (board and skim) a room but for whatever reason didn't put joint tape where the ceiling meets the walls. Been fine for a few months but there's now a very fine crack where the tape hasn't been used along the joint. So, a few questions:

- will this always happen no matter how flush the joint is?
- could it simply be a result of floor movement i.e. old timbers in the floor above the ceiling moving as the floor gets traffic?
- anything else that might be the cause?

What about solutions:

- just live with it?
- fill with some sort of sealant / caulk and re-paint?
- re-plaster using joint tape and feather in the new plaster?

Cheers for any knowledge / suggestions.

if its just a hairline crack round the out side the room id just caulk it
and just remember to skim the edges next time

Try using some paper scrim tape(the sort used for artex) and feather it in with easyfill and sand it. If its not taped before plastering it will crack over time and it is movement that causes it.

haha beats loads of sanding once youve put the tape up and filled over to blend it i spose, i like your thinking lucius

Surely you don't need any sanding if you feather in?
Think the caulk option might be the winner.
Cheers all for replies, won't forget tape to corners again!
