if you were going to start an nvq in september does it matter if you apply for a temporary card now to get you on site?..........this wont affect anything to do with youre nvq will it?

I dont think so. I did the 2nd then the 3rd straight after each other so I would nt imagine it being a problem. Ask the cscs peeps.

The tempory blue card lasts 12 months from issue and you can't renew, you have to get your NVQ to get your full card.

No, it took me 3 months to get my Nvq by the time they got their fingers out! Took bloody ages to get an assesor!!

Sorry Spunky, logged off after last reply last night, why are you doing a 2 year course? You've been on the job long enough to go on the OSAT Assesment surely, once you've set up with your assesor it takes about 3 months to get your NVQ. To be fair I did my portfolio over a couple of years before I applied for it as I knew I'd have to get my NVQ sooner or later. I did mine with the tempory blue card.

I started my Nvq 2 portfolio in December 08, got a 12 month experienced worker card, had four or five on site assesments and got my NVQ in Sept 09. I took pictures of every bit of work i did and got references from customers and contractors. Got my full cscs card now but to be honest nobody asks for it! Have had to prove my qualification a few times though for jobs. The process is pretty easy if u get a good assesor and communicate with them. If i had a unit to sign off such as float and set internal walls i would wait til a job came up and phone assesor to meet up on job and he'd take pictures and notes and to be honest u wouldn't know he was there until he'd ask me to sign something.
